
1. Each participant must prepare a purse/pocketbook no larger than 11" x 11" with materials provided.
2. Only one entry per participant may be submitted accompanied by the appropriate Alpaca Gala Fiber Design Entry Form.
3. The handbags will be returned to the contestant after the 2012 gala.
4. Entry must be designed as a finished item of alpaca fiber knit, crocheted or felted etc, using items supplied to the participant. Embellishments may be used to add creativity and items such as liners and stabilizers may be used.
5. No other animal fibers of any kind may be used to construct the handbag.
6. Fiber may be dyed. (Dye not included in packet)
7. Registrant's name and phone number must be put on a tag and pinned/adhered to the interior of item.
8. Do not use any names or brand names on the exterior of item.
9. Registrants are responsible for a short biography along with the process used to create the item.
10. Judging criteria will be as follows:
* 15% Level of creativity -Design shows originality and a personal point of
view that reflects the use of alpaca fiber.
* 25% Commercial viability- ease with which the design could be produced
and appeal to a consumer market.
* 15% Craftsmanship & Professionalism of the presentation -
The designer's ability to work competently with materials and project a
professional approach to their work.
* l0% Awareness of contemporary design trends - Design reflects current
consumer taste levels for color, silhouette, detailing.
* 15% Technical consideration - How well the seaming, construction, fit,
drape, and detailing have been though out and communicated through
the design.
* 20% Visual appeal - Overall appeal of the design reflecting the use of
alpaca fiber.
